Student Leadership Awards

This award recognizes an individual student, student organization, athletic team, or residential community who most widely represents Landmark’s core values of Respect, Understanding, Safety and Honesty.

Consideration for recognition is based on the following criteria:

• Promotes the advancement of the College’s core values through their direct or indirect involvement on and off campus.
• Embraces and supports the core values in their daily life.
• Evokes the concept of collaboration and community engagement.
• Values diversity, motivates and inspires others and exemplifies integrity in all words and actions.
• Demonstrates initiative by seeking ways to enrich the future.

The Emerging Leader Award is presented to a first- or second-year student who has contributed significantly to the Landmark community through their involvement in a campus organization, athletic team, residential community, or a community service program. The nominee must also show significant potential for continued leadership and civic engagement.

Consideration for recognition is based on the following criteria:

• Has a significant impact on the Landmark or local community through their effort and engagement.
• Displays commitment to furthering the core values and mission of Landmark College.
• Achieves significant personal growth as a leader.
• Plays an active role in an organization, team, community or project through participation in meetings, events, and organization efforts.
• Has a minimum GPA of 2.0.

This award recognizes the effort of a student, recognized student organization, athletic team, or residence hall in the development of an ongoing or one-time community service project or program that benefits Landmark College or the local community.

Consideration for recognition is based on the following criteria:

• Evidence of participation in program development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of service activities.
• Evidence of effective use of available resources, including financial, human, and logistical resources.
• Evidence of the impact of service on meeting local or global community needs.
• Verification from individual or agency where service was provided (letter of recommendation or contact information).

This award recognizes innovative and outstanding achievement in the planning and presentation of a program by a student organization, residential community, or individual.

Consideration for recognition is based on the following criteria:

• The program has been administered and managed by a group or organization where students were significantly involved with the decision making, planning, implementation and presentation of program.
• The clarity and achievement of the program’s stated goals and objectives.
• Program visibility through promotion and marketing to the campus community through electronic or social media outlets, posters, flyers, newspaper ads, etc.
• Creativity and impact on the campus and local community. Consideration will be given to those programs which reach a diverse audience.
• Effective and appropriate use of college resources.

This award recognizes an individual, student organization, group, or residential community for their demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity and social justice at Landmark College and in the local community.

Consideration for recognition is based on the following criteria:

• Demonstrates the ability to act as a change agent and challenge systems of bias and injustice.
• Commitment to ongoing education on the topics related to social justice and diversity through participation in available educational opportunities.
• Endorses a broad definition of diversity and social justice within their lives.
• Participates in educational or activist programs and/or events on campus or in the community.
• A commitment to making Landmark College and the global community a welcoming and positive environment for all.

This award recognizes a student who has demonstrated excellence in academic growth and achievement, as well as excellence in campus and community engagement and has made a contribution to the Landmark community through their leadership and participation in campus programs, organizations, and activities.

Consideration for recognition is based on the following criteria:

• Holds a leadership position on campus in a recognized student organization, athletic team, residence hall or through student employment.
• Has made a significant contribution to the Landmark campus community upholding and advancing our core values and the College’s mission.
• Demonstrates the ability to prepare, motivate and impact other students.
• Maintains a positive image and presence within the Landmark community.
• Has a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

This award recognizes a student who works behind-the-scenes of a successful recognized student organization, athletic team, group, or residential community. This award is given to a student who consistently gives their all, going above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis without expectation of recognition.

Consideration for recognition is based on the following criteria:

• Works outside the scope of any formal position they may hold.
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to the organization, team, group, or residential community.
• Positively influences the community and campus from behind the scenes.
• Has a strong attendance record at organization meetings and events.
• Completes tasks and duties in a timely manner with a high level of quality.

This award recognizes the consistent, positive impact on the Landmark community by a recognized student organization including the noteworthy accomplishments accomplished during the year by the student organization. This organization will have made a positive contribution to campus life.

Consideration for recognition is based on the following criteria:

• Demonstrates organizational effectiveness based on stated purposes and goals.
• Commitment towards understanding and addressing student concerns and needs.
• Dedication to individual and organizational development.
• Encourages and promotes student input and participation in the organization.
• Innovative services, projects, and programs initiated and provided by the organization for the campus and/or community.
• Positive and effective relationships with faculty and administrators.
• Letter of recommendation or support from a faculty, staff, or community member in support of the nomination.

This award recognizes a faculty or staff member who advises a student organization or project. This person embodies the ideals of working with a dedicated group of students. They work to support student efforts while advancing the mission of the institution.

Consideration for recognition is based on the following criteria:

• Serves as an advisor to a recognized student organization or special project, and has done so for a minimum of one full semester.
• Displays commitment to furthering the goals of the organization or project through excellent guidance and advice.
• Plays an active role in the organization or project through participation in meetings, events and organization efforts.
• Allows students to take responsibility for their own learning and understanding of the organization, while providing advice, encouragement, and support to all students.
• Relates well to individual students.
• Is available for others, and is approachable and open to new ideas.
• Values initiative and student input.
• Utilizes different and creative approaches to educating and assisting members.
• Serves as a positive role model.
